What you should know about Mercervale Daffodils
Mercervale Daffodils Nursery began as Mercervale Daffodils which grew from a lifelong association with growing and showing daffodils and became a small business offering daffodil bulbs for the garden, naturalising and exhibiting. In 2013 I extended the business to include a choice and changing selection of bulbs, perennials, shrubs, trees, grasses and natives. Mercervale Daffodils Nursery is named after our farm situated on Mercer Road, Waitepeka in South Otago which is in the lower east coast of the South Island of New Zealand. Friday Saturday, Sept 18th 19th Hinton Garden Club Spring Flower Show, Hinton Open to public Friday 9 30 a. Still very hasty season for South Otago though so I’m making the maximum of it. This lovely daffodil was grown by my slow Mum and I was thrilled to see it flowering this year the beginning time since she died 10 years ago. By plain selection of varieties you can have daffodils flowering from winter until hasty summer AND did you know that there are autumn flowering varieties? You’ve grown these ravishing spring beauties and would like to try your hand at competing at a spring show.
Every spring, Dunedin growers would come to our South Otago shows with their hopefuls and would leave again in the knowledge that, once again, my Highfield Beauty bloom had pipped them at the post. From the earliest days, my parents purchased bulbs from the slow David Bell, a healthy obvious and respected New Zealand breeder and my collection today calm consists of many Bell varieties. A vast many varieties future into bloom and with only one divulge this week I have picked for a sales display as well as entries in Dunedin. Friday Saturday, October 2nd 3rd 42th Te Ana Garden Club Group Spring Flower Divulge Unfold to public Friday 2 00 to 8 00 p. Premature and mid season flowering was 10 days to 3 weeks early! I had enough of flowers and a bit of energy so traveled to outran to enter and set up a trade display at their spring show.
I have had this for 20 or so years and this is the only time I’ve seen flowers. Saturday Sunday, September 19th 20th Canterbury Horticultural Society Spring Show combined with the Alpine Society Divulge Canterbury Horticultural center, 57 Riccarton Ave, Christchurch Central, Eddington, Christchurch. September 2011 note Kafka Point flowered last year spring 2010 for me and buds are developing at present
